BRIT awards: quotes of the night

It wouldn't be an internationally recognised event without huge star-spangled performances, recognition of the next big thing and an abundance of perfectly preened celebrities. From Rihanna making a very fashionably late entrance, to that moment Adele got cut off by time-conscious producers, the BRIT awards 2012 was a spectacular event.

Held at the o2 arena in London, cheeky chap James Corden was at the helm of the show. Talking to One Direction star Harry Styles, who recently split from girlfriend Caroline Flack, Corden asked if Styles was going out with Denise Welch after the BRITs, adding that he "loves a loose woman". Playing along with the joke, Styles said, "Yes, I can confirm it's true."
We're not sure how impressed Flack's camp are going to be! Mieow.

We've taken a look back at some of the best quotes from the night:

Accepting an award Adele hugged Kylie, before joking: "I feel like I look like a drag queen next to you... I'm wearing heels."

Nial, One Direction, addressing the BRITs Winners Room: "Rihanna's looking hot in that dress tonight!"

Ed Sheeran talking to MSN Music about which award means the most to him: "The one that is the most important to everyone is Best Album, and Adele's going to get that, so yeah...Hmm"

Rizzle Kicks talking to MSN Music about not being nominated: "We'd come across as a knob if we say 'we should have been nominated' but these things happen, maybe the timings are weird?"

Alexandra Burke sharing a secret with MSN Music: "I had to get the car to go round twice, I couldn't get out the car I was so scared! Every time you walk a red carpet, I think the biggest fear is falling down because of nerves!"

James Corden talking to the ITV2's The Brits Backstage: "I was having the best night of my life but then I had to cut Adele off before she had a chance to say thank you - she's the biggest star in the world."

Marcus Collins talking to MSN Music: "I feel a little bit out of my depth, but it's good because this is a good learning curve for me."

Adele after the awards discussing that incident: "They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.
"I got cut off during my speech and flung the middle finger. But that finger was to the suits at the Brit Awards, not to my fans."

Christina Perri talking to MSN Music before the event: "I'm most looking forward to Coldplay because they're my favourite, Adele because she's the Queen and Bruno because he's my friend."
