Helen Flanagan: Gun picture was the stupidest thing I’ve done

Earlier this week, ex-Corrie actress Helen Flanagan caused outrage after posting a picture of herself in a lacy bra, holding a gun to her head on the same day the first child victims of the Connecticut massacre were laid to rest. Along with the snap, she posted the words ‘Head f***’.
The image was condemned and appeared on the front page of The Sun newspaper with the headline ‘Brainless’. Helen apologised on Twitter for posting the picture, which has now been deleted, but added that she ‘felt sick’ after seeing the newspaper’s blowout front page.
The 22-year-old, who recently appeared in the latest series of I’m A Celebrity, also went on ITV1’s Daybreak to apologise further.
“Sorry, it just gets me so upset. It was just a completely out of context tweet, completely. I did the tweet and it was some different pictures in one and it was relating to a hangover on Monday night… I treated this picture completely carelessly, like it was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
She continued: “I started getting all these reactions of, ‘how insensitive, how could you do this?’, and I just felt sick. I just deleted it straight away, I rang my best friend and I was like, ‘I can’t believe what I’ve just done’, and I said to her, ‘shall I reply to these saying how sorry I am?’
“And then I thought no, it will just draw attention to the fact of completely what I’ve done – it’s so humiliating. And on Tuesday nothing was said of it, it was fine, and then on Wednesday morning I woke up to see that and I was just absolutely, unbelievably just shattered, just mortified by it.”
When asked if she understood why people were so upset about the image, she replied: “Absolutely, I absolutely hated myself for it. I am incredibly sorry and I couldn’t be more sorry. My heart bleeds for all the families.”
She was also questioned as to why she would even pose for such a picture in the first place.
“It was in October, seven weeks before this happened,” she explained. “I sometimes forget – none of my friends are in the public eye and I kind of forget that I am in the public eye and I will take more responsibility and realise that I have to be more careful. I'm seen as a role model and I will definitely learn a lesson from this but I am truly, truly sorry."

This girl is clearly in need of help, not to mention insanely thick. If she had a brain cell it would be lonely. After her humiliation and antics on 'I'm a celebrity', one would think she would be trying to keep a low profile, but it appears the adage 'any publicity is good publicity' is this bimbo's mantra. Either her agent and PR are the dumbest people on earth, or else she is a total loose cannon. I would hedge toward the second. What a classless, insensitive moron she is.

The pose in itself is idiotic, what kind of idiot thinks a gun to the head is sexy? But that aside, to me this is a case of people seeing what they want to see. The picture arose at a bad time and with the gunman dead people are looking for someone to blame for the American tragedy, some bimbo off the telly is not the right place to put your frustration. If it had been posted at a different time how would this photo be any less offensive to families of people who had committed suicide? People see what they want, and all i see is an idiot getting bad publicity.

she is just a airhead who wants to be famous and be in the papers whether its good or bad it doesn't matter as long as she gets publicity OK so she was in Coronation Street ....again playing herself....a airhead.... I don't see her getting anymore work on her acting abilities so she is grabbing at anything that keeps her in the public eye

Nobody in America knows who this so called celebrity is. Nobody there would have seen this photo had the media not fired up the outrage bus and made it known to them...time to blame the media if you need to blame anyone, not a clueless Corrie actress. I don't see the big deal here, man up and move on folks! Life's tough, get a helmet!
