Stars remember the former South African president
Bono at the 'Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour' European Premiere at the O2 Arena
U2's bespectacled frontman Bono has nabbed more awards for his musical skills than you can shake a stick at but the singer has now been given the dubious honour of having a newly identified spider named after him.
The rocker gained Brownie points for his extra-curricular activities away from his band by penning the music and lyrics to hit Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark with U2 pal The Edge.
Clearly Bono's affinity for the eight-legged creatures has made him score highly in the scientific world as biologist Jason Bond (no relation to superspy James) of Auburn University in Alabama, who discovered 33 spider breeds, has named one Aptostichus bonoi.
Jason decided the name for the trapdoor spider as it was found living in California's Joshua Tree National Park, which shares its name with U2's classic 1987 album.
The celeb-mad scientist has previously named his insect discoveries after singer Neil Young, actress Angelina Jolie, U.S. President Barack Obama and funnyman Stephen Colbert.
