Tom and Katie have spoken out about their divorce

Since the news broke that Katie Holmes had filed for divorce from husband of five and a half years Tom Cruise on 28 June, we have been eagerly waiting for them to speak out together.

And now they have.

In a statement shared by their representatives, the A-list couple say:

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

The couple have had one of the most high-profile celebrity splits of recent times and their six-year-old daughter Suri has been at the centre of the headlines, with much speculation about custody rights.

Katie, 33, filed for divorce from Tom, 50, just over a week ago citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

Could they not have chosen a better photo for this headline?  His little tree frog fingers around her waist are off-putting.  Seriously though, let's hope some compromise can be reached for their child. Whatever Tom Cruise believes or doesn't believe, I am sure he loves his daughter and she loves her daddy.  A child should be in contact with both parents, as long as their safety is not in question.

I had to laugh, in the last Mission film, it was all filmed to make Cruise look as tall as all the other actors, or else they were all specially selected midgets, in fact is all his films are shot to make him look tall, talk about vanity!

All i'm worried about is why did midget Cruise get the part of 6'5 Jack Reacher???? Can't read a Lee Child book now without an image of Tom the Woodgnome in my head!
